Maqollar xalqning fikrlash tarzini, axloqiy-me’yoriy qadriyatlarini, ijtimoiy hayot haqidagi qarashlarini ixcham va obrazli ifodalaydi. Ular nafaqat o‘zbek xalqining, balki boshqa millatlarning ham donishmandlik namunasi sanaladi. Ayniqsa, o‘zbek va rus maqollarini qiyosiy o‘rganish, ikki xalq madaniyati va tafakkuri o‘rtasidagi mushtaraklik va farqlarni anglashga xizmat qiladi.
